About
Charles. Chuck. Chucky. Perhaps even Charlie. I respond to any one of those names at any given time. Much like my various names, I tend to respond to a variety of thoughts and ideas. Thus, I have made this contraption you clicked into with curiosity (or sheer boredom… both I enthusiastically accept). It’s a way to keep track of the things that move me, challenge me, and anger me. And hopefully, these things will do that to you as well.
As for the title, I read a quote once that intrigued me. It read something along the lines of, “At the risk of seeming ridiculous, let me say that the true revolutionary is guided by a great feeling of love. It is impossible to think of a genuine revolutionary lacking this quality.” This quote has something important to say about serving humanity. That in the pursuit of trying to change the world, it must be done out of a deep love of people. Deep enough to the point where life itself is surrendered for the uplift of the oppressed. And yes, a love that makes you seem ridiculous.
Now, I don’t in any way claim to be a revolutionary. Nor do I feel that I even have the courage to do anything remotely close to what a revolutionary is called to do. But my hope is that in trying to love humanity, I will be continually shaped and unnerved by the revolutionary process.
That in itself sounded ridiculous… perhaps this blog is already starting to live up to its name.
